Cultural Activities in Naples

Since the language is a vehicle and mirror of the society in which it is used, lectures on topics and aspects of Italian civilization and culture are run parallel to the Italian language courses.

The cultural activities are included in the course price. Students should pay only for the entry tickets and the transportation.

• Socio-cultural information lecture about:
  • History of Art: the City
    This lecture, together with guided tours, illustrates the main steps in the artistic development of the city of Naples.
  • The history of the Italian Cinema
    A lecture which covers various aspects of the Italian cinema, together with the projection and discussion of films.
  • Naples: its history and tradition
    This introduces participants to the myths, beliefs, essence and «alternative» ambitions of a city whose mysteries and history render it fascinating.
  • Italian Music
    Participants listen to and experience a linguistic analysis of the lyrics and songs of the most important Italian composers.
  • Neapolitan Music
    An opportunity to listen and to analyse the lyrics of the most famous songs of Neapolitan tradition..
  • Eduardo de Filippo and the Neapolitan Theatre
    The lecture deals with the life and artistic career of one of the most representative Neapolitan playwrights. Besides that, some fragments of the most significant plays written by Eduardo de Filippo, will be shown. Among these: «Natale in casa Cupiello», «Napoli milionaria», «Filumena marturano», «Questi fantasmi».
  • Regions of Italy
    A brief illustration of the historical, cultural and social differences between the regions of Italy.
