Spanish Courses in Buenos Aires: Academia - TANDEM Buenos Aires
Written by AdministratorAcademia Buenos Aires, an academically excellent Spanish school with professional service
Academia Buenos Aires offers Spanish courses for foreigners and other language courses (German, Portuguese, Modern Greek, English, etc.) just off Plaza de Mayo, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
We offer both individual and group Spanish courses on all levels, from beginners' levels to very advanced, and even Spanish teacher training courses. Our school of Spanish is located on the top floor of a recently restored historic building in the heart of the old city of Buenos Aires, just next to the famous San Telmo district. The most interesting parts of the city are in the immediate surroundings of the school. We are ideally located within the public transport network, with three subway lines ending here.
Since the foundation of the Spanish school in 2004, Academia Buenos Aires has grown to become one of the leading Spanish language schools in Latin America, with about 750 students per year and the possibility to combine courses with our sister school, Academia Uruguay, in Montevideo.
Three fundamental principles guide our work: academic excellence, complete immersion, professional service.
The Academia Buenos Aires Spanish school has an excellent academic track record. Every year we participate in international seminars and workshops, we produce and edit our own study books and offer teacher training courses for teachers around the world, both online and offline.
Complete immersion is an important part of language learning. It is well known that standalone Spanish classes are not as effective as Spanish classes in a context of permanent cultural immersion. That's why we suggest that our students enrich their learning experience by participating in our extracurricular activities, almost daily and free of charge, and by sharing daily routines with an argentine host family in a homestay arrangement.
We offer professional service in a relaxed and pleasant environment. Our team assists and orients our students during their entire stay with us. Indeed, we make sure they feel comfortable and attended from the very first contact until the end of their stay. We speak most common languages (Spanish, English, German, French, Italian, and Portuguese) and will do our utmost to make yours a pleasant experience.
Homologations: Academia Buenos Aires is a member of SEA, Argentina's language school association, and complies with its strict standards of quality. The school is also recognized as "Bildungsurlaubsanbieter" in almost all German Bundesländer where Bildungsurlaub is possible.

Spanish Courses in Buenos Aires: about Buenos Aires, Argentina
Written by AdministratorLearn Spanish in Buenos Aires, the Paris of the southern hemisphere
Some people refer to the city of Buenos Aires as the "Paris of the southern hemisphere". Others consider it to be one of the economically most powerful cities in Latin America.
Artists see it as a singular cultural experimentation field. For tourists it is an attraction by itself and the gateway to Argentina's enormous hinterland. For its citizens, the "porteños", Buenos Aires is all of this plus a bit of nostalgia for the good old times.
Buenos Aires' physical structure is a mosaic as varied and diverse as its culture. The city has no dominating monument. Instead, Buenos Aires is composed of many hidden corners and intimate details. Glass-sheathed skyscrapers cast their slender shadows on 19th century Victorian houses. Tango bars fill with the hazy, piquant tang of cigar smoke while dusty, treasure-filled antique shops lie just across the way.
The city's neighbourhoods are small and highly individualized, each with its own characteristic colors and forms. In the District of San Telmo, the city's multinational heritage is embodied in a varied and cosmopolitan architecture - Spanish Colonial design couples with Italian detailing and graceful French art nouveau. Artists left thier mark in La Boca by painting the district's pressed tin houses, leaving the district's side-streets as avenues enveloped in color.
Buenos Aires is never more alive than it is at night. It is what you'd expect from a city that invented tango. Avenues come alive with people on their way to restaurants and theaters, especially in the barrios of Puerto Madero, Recoleta and Palermo. People like to dress up and stay out until dawn. The city's Palermo and Belgrano barrios attract a young crowd of clubbers.

Learn Spanish in Argentina, the second largest South-American country
Learning Spanish in Argentina offers you the possibility of getting to know the second largest South-American country and discover vastly different landscapes, climates and people!
Argentina forms the eastern half of South America's long, tapering tail. The country can be divided into four major parts: the Andes to the west (with arid basins, grape-filled foothills, glacial mountains and the Lake District), the fertile lowland north (with subtropical rainforests), the central Pampas (a flat mix of humid and dry expanses) and Patagonia (a combination of pastoral steppes and glacial regions).
More than twenty national parks preserve large areas of these varied environments and protect wildlife (much of it unique) such as the caiman (or yacaré), puma, guanaco (a lowland relative of the upper-Andean llama), rhea (similar to an ostrich), Andean condor, flamingo, various marine mammals and seabirds such as Magellanic penguins.
Argentinean culture
Argentina's culture has been greatly affected by its immigrant population, mostly European. Their influence contributed to the demise of pre-Columbian cultures, resulting in the lack of a dominant indigenous population. Buenos Aires is a big melting pot of all of these cultures and has been receiving immigration from other Latin American countries, mainly from Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay.
Argentina's climate ranges from subtropical in the north to humid and steamy in the centre, and cold in the temperate south. The country's great variety and elongated geography can make a visit in any season worthwhile. Buenos Aires' urban attractions, for example, transcend the seasons, but Patagonian destinations, such as the Moreno Glacier in Santa Cruz, are best to visit in the summer months (December to February). The Iguazú Falls in subtropical Misiones province are best in the southern hemisphere's winter or spring when heat and humidity are less oppressive. The winter months (mid-June to late September) also offer the opportunity to go skiing.
